George Edward Heck
- Born: 14 Apr 1916, Clifton, Passaic, New Jersey
- Died: 11 Oct 1997, Abilene, Taylor, TX 79602 at age 81
General Notes:
COMMENT: I (Robert M. Heck, Sr.) spoke to George on the phone on 10-31-90. He informed me that he used to help his grandfather, Martin Heck (RIN-29) with his delivery service in Clifton, New Jersey (next to Paterson). Martin had two horse-drawn wagons in his service that had "Martin P. Heck Delivery Service" painted on the side. Martin and George used to deliver meat to the customers of the butcher shop owned by George's uncle, Charles Heck (RIN-33).
George has been married at least three times. All of his children came out of his first two marriages. All of the children were not born out of his first marriage, but I have listed them under his first wife because of lack of information at this time.
COMMENT: In early 1992, Robert M. Heck, Sr. and Robert M. Heck, Jr. visited George and his current wife, Jean, at his home in Abiline, Texas. George is also interested in Genealogy. Some of what we learned from George is outlined below:
1. George was raised by "Grandma" Barbarow from the time he was 2 until he was about 4 years old.
2. After that, he was raised by Grandma (Katherine, RIN-30) and Grandpa (Martin Phillip, RIN-29) Heck. He lived with Catherine and Martin until he was 10 or 11 years old. (The Katherine here is Regina Katherine Konzelmann).
3. He started in school at the Clifton (NJ) school #4 at the age of 4. Shortly thereafter, he moved to Paterson. This is when he moved in with Martin and Katherine.
4. George was born April 1916.
5. His mother died when he was 2 years old.
